Caribe, Key West, Florida 1950sWe love this happy turtle who is wearing shoes and what looks like a suit underneath his shell on the cover of the Caribe drive in in Floridas Key West. With great graphics and illustrations, this vintage menu print is a lovely reminder of the glorious era of drive ins where there were car hops and curb service. It started out as a tavern in the 1820s growing into a luxury 600 room hotel which played host to at least fifteen Presidents including Andrew Jackson

and the first published recipe for the dish omits them

The Statler was sold in 1976 to the Irving M Saunders family and was renamed the Boston Park Plaza and Towers
